Shadwell is an affluent and popular village situated to the North of Leeds. It is very picturesque and has many original stone built cottages and terraces in the centre of the village. It is favoured by families who take advantage of the open countryside nearby.
The village has grown over the last 50 years or so and there have been several housing developments that have sprung up with more modern semi detached and detached housing. Property tends to sell very quickly in Shadwell and its popularity is reflected in the prices. |
There is a social club, and the Red Lion pub which offers a good selection of food and drinks. Within the village itself there are a few shops including a post office. However, a few minutes drive out of the village is Slaid Hill, a residential area that has a small parade of shops including a convenience store, off licence and bakery etc.

If you enjoy golf then Shadwell is the place to live, there are plenty of courses in the nearby area.
- Leeds Golf Centre - an 18-hole course with a driving range 5 minutes away in the nearby village of Wike. Facilities are open to non-members.
- Brandon - This is a 9-hole golf course situated within Shadwell Village it is a pay and play course and is popular with local residents.
- Moor Allerton - Situated near Wike this is a beautiful course situated in the undulating Yorkshire countryside. It is members only but does welcome visitors.
