Roundhay is another of the city's most desirable residential areas, due in no short measure to the proximity of Roundhay Park. This large public park was built in 1872 for the use of Leeds residents to relax from the daily grind of city life. There are over 700 acres of parkland, lakes and woodland. It is used for a range of activities from cricket matches to sledging in the winter months.
In addition Tropical World situated within Roundhay Park offers Leeds residents the opportunity to experience different zones around the world including a tropical and desert areas with native flora and fauna and small animals and birds. For those who enjoy golf Roundhay golf course offers locals the chance to practice their swing on this 9-hole course. |
It is an affluent residential area popular with families and professionals and there is a mixture of large detached properties, semi detached and flats. The nearby shops in Oakwood provide a good range of amenities and the Roundhay Fox and the Manor House within Roundhay Park are always popular haunts for drinks and food. They are especially busy in the summer months when the park attracts lots of visitors.
Roundhay is on a main bus route with regular buses in and out of Leeds.
